HEAD

OVERVIEW OF THE HEAD

The head contains key aspects in the development of the sub-senses. During the first three months, the sub-senses are more critical to development than the topical senses. Before an infant’s eyes start to open, they are moving and reacting to the stimuli surrounding them. The sinus cavities generate a key feature in the development of balance and spatial awareness. As the eyes are closed and the head rolls around to the mother and father, the mucus in the nasal cavities and the eye sockets start to synchronize movements as a system. If there is an issue with other senses, it will become apparent in the movement of the head. Offering an infant the same attention from your left and right hand is also important as they are navigating in their new world. You can apply these principles with your infant the moment they are born by using a gentle bonding touch.
